Edmond, Okla. (June 1, 2011) – The 2011-2012 Performing Arts Series at Armstrong Auditorium will delight audiences as they attend diverse performances that range from the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty, performed by the Moscow Festival Ballet, to the world’s reigning male chorus, Chanticleer, to GRAMMY-winning trumpeter and former Tonight Show band leader Doc Severinsen.

The upcoming season features five series that include concerts from Russian Masters, Vocal Masters, Chamber, Folk and Pops performers.

“As the second season in the new Armstrong Auditorium, we felt it important to provide a concert line-up fit for people of varied musical interests,” said Armstrong Marketing Director Shane Granger. Seventy percent of Armstrong’s opening season sold out months in advance, Granger said. “We sold out very quickly and expect the same kind of enthusiasm from the audience as we open this diverse 2011-2012 season.”

The auditorium kicks off its Folk series July 3 with two-time GRAMMY-winning fiddler Mark O’Connor and the American String Celebration. Enjoy a special Independence Day concert as O’Connor joins with some of the country’s most talented young fiddlers to celebrate classical, jazz, mountain, Celtic, old-time and Texas-style fiddling.

In addition to O’Connor, the Folk series will include the StepCrew, a group that melds together three exhilarating dance forms–Irish Stepdance, Ottawa Valley Stepdance and TAP. Six-time GRAMMY-winners, the Chieftains, will also perform in the Folk series as they celebrate their 50th anniversary tour on Feb. 27.

Following Mark O’Connor in the season line-up is Marvin Hamlisch with the OKC Philharmonic on Sept. 8 and Chanticleer on Oct. 25.

2011-2012 tickets go on sale June 1 with prices beginning as low as $20. Armstrong offers diverse and flexible ticket options dependent upon the desires of each attendee.

“Armstrong is one of the first venues to develop a flexible ticket pricing system,” says Granger. In addition to subscribing to a series, attendees enjoy multiple options to purchase tickets for a single concert, or they can build their own series. “Our new FlexPass allows them to build their own subscription by choosing tickets from several series at a discounted rate. The deepest discounts are available for tickets for the entire season. The more you buy, the more you save.”

Granger says Armstrong’s proprietary ticketing web site provides an easy-to-use format for ticket shopping. “It’s very intuitive. You can hover over a seat to see the view from that location, and all of the discounts are automatically calculated to save you the most money at checkout.”
