EDMOND—“Our inaugural concert will be a very British evening,” said Ryan Malone, concert master at Armstrong Auditorium. Malone was referring to the Band of Irish Guards and the pipes, drums and highland dancers of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. The prestigious military bands of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will perform Sunday evening February 14, 2010.

The foundation is giving Edmond performances “fit for a king,” Malone said. Two nights later, the inaugural season continues with the return of the famed English vocal ensemble, the King’s Singers.

The remainder of the gala season continues with the Canadian Brass, February 28; world-famed concert pianist André Watts, March 9; legendary opera celebrities Frederica von Stade and Samuel Ramey teaming up in a duo concert, April 8; the Romeros Guitar Quartet adding a fifth and special guest, founding member Angel Romero, on April 15; and closing with the performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah, performed by the Herbert W. Armstrong College Choral Union with full professional orchestra, performing Mendelssohn’s choral magnum opus in its entirety for the first time in central Oklahoma’s recent history.

Season tickets tickets go on sale December 1 and can be purchased through January 15. Event tickets go on sale January 18.
