The Camerata Nordica Octet, drawn from principal players of Sweden’s premier chamber orchestra Camerata Nordica, brings vibrant Scandinavian spirit and exceptional artistry to the stage in “Scandinavian Seasons.” This dynamic string octet—renowned for its intimate connection, standing performances, and heartfelt interpretations—delivers a captivating program that fuses Nordic folk traditions with classical mastery, highlighted by a stunning multimedia element.
At the heart of the evening is Hanna Helgegren’s evocative “The Nordic Seasons” (Årstider), a newly commissioned work (2024) composed by the ensemble’s own violinist. Rooted in Swedish folk music, this piece vividly captures the dramatic contrasts of the Nordic year—from the contemplative stillness and shadowy depths of winter to the euphoric burst of spring light, summer’s warmth, and autumn’s reflection—performed with breathtaking drone imagery of Sweden’s majestic landscapes, filmed by a BBC videographer.
